The "Delete" Button

A very wise person once said to me, "Life is very short and Chicago weather is fickle...you must hit the "delete" button every once in a while."

He was referring to the long weekend hours we (real estate agents) work and the hit or miss fall weather we get in Chicago. It can either be snowing or raining or 90 degrees. While most people get the weekend off, real estate agents are meeting clients, showing houses, hosting open houses, or scouring the internet and making phone calls. On Friday morning I was watching the WGN Morning news weather forcast and saw that this weekend, the last weekend in October, was going to be just about perfect. While I couldn't take off the entire weekend (that wouldn't be responsible of me) I decided to hit the "delete" button on Saturday afternoon. I got up early, tended to some business, did my obligatory carpooling to softball but then hit the road with my daughter for a walk around Lincoln Park and a visit with the animals.

It was a well deserved and much needed mental break from the daily grind, but most of all it was a glorious sunny day in our great city. It is now Sunday... back to the trenches. It is still beautiful out and I will listen to the Bears game while I get some work done but the afternoon with my daughter, the animals, and the city was a true treat!
