My Summer

The other two live away....I miss them.

One left at home and she keeps me busy.

Softball, Softball, Softball!

This is our summer. While we are not that crazy family that travels all summer from coast to coast, visiting dusty softball fields, eating fast food, and cheering until we lose our voices, we do spend quite a bit of time at the park.

It is all about balance. My daughter has no aspirations of playing Division 1 Softball. Nor does she think she will play any softball at the collegiate level. She is just looking to be the best she can be and play with friends and have a most excellent time. That being said, she plays on her high school team in the spring and her travel team (20 miles away) for the summer, fall, and winter. Yes, in Illinois, we play softball in the winter. There are some interesting warehouses that accommodate full size softball fields.

We have found a great circle of parents on both teams and it makes spending so much time at the fields enjoyable and entertaining. The games are about two hours but between the drives, pre-game warm ups, time between double and triple headers, and post game recap, we spend lots of time with these people.

Ironically, this is what got my middle son his connection to Coppola Winery and lead him to land a job after his internship.

So, that being said, we are almost at the end of our summer season. One more game and one more tournament. We look forward to some downtime before we start up again.
