And So it Begins...

I am working full time. Really, full time. 8:30am-5pm Monday thru Friday. Bring my lunch and two fifteen minute breaks...full time. I have parlayed my love of volunteering to become a Volunteer Coordinator for CovenantCare at Home, Home Health and Hospice. My duties are to recruit, train, assign, evaluate, and retain volunteer for hospice. It is a new world for me. I am flying by the seat of my pants trying to learn everything there is about hospice but finding out I need to know just as much, if not more, about Medicare, compliance, standards and HR. While I spend most of my days (for now) immersed in binders, legal documents, spread sheets, and training materials, I have had the rare opportunity to meet a volunteer or two and meet with some of our patients.

When we walk into the room and the patient is happy to see us, I truly understand the importance of my job. So I will plug away at the bureaucratic paperwork so eventually I will be able to get back to the part of the job I love, volunteering.
